MOGA Caparica Crowned Best Festival in Southern Europe at Heavent Paris 2024

The MOGA Festival, which first took root in Essaouira, Morocco, in 2016, has achieved another milestone by winning the title of “Best Festival in Southern Europe” at the prestigious Heavent Festival Awards in Paris. This recognition underscores MOGA’s growing reputation as a unique platform that celebrates electronic music and cultural heritage on an international scale.

As the first Moroccan festival to expand abroad, MOGA has become a bridge between music, culture, and shared history. The award also honors its Portuguese edition, MOGA Caparica, which has successfully retained the festival’s original Moroccan identity while embracing the diverse influences of its host country. Key contributors to this success include the Moroccan artists who bring a distinctive flair to each event and the festival’s loyal attendees, known as the #MOGATribe, whose enthusiasm and pride transcend borders.

Matthieu Corosine, co-founder of MOGA, expressed his gratitude during the awards ceremony:
“This award reflects our mission: connecting cultures, celebrating unique places, and offering unforgettable experiences. With the incredible energy of our team and the unwavering support of our community, we’ve managed to expand our horizons without losing the essence of MOGA. It’s also a tribute to Essaouira, a city whose values and heritage resonate far beyond its walls, and naturally find a home in Portugal, a country with shared historical ties to Morocco.”

Since expanding to Portugal in 2021, MOGA has enhanced its identity by fostering connections between the Atlantic coasts. Its diverse programming and inclusive ethos have created a platform where tradition meets modernity, drawing artists and audiences from around the globe. This award celebrates not only the festival team but also the communities of Essaouira and Caparica, whose spirit inspires each edition.
