One monogrammed lipstick at a time, Prada is rethinking beauty

The collection, which includes 26 "Monochrome" lipsticks (in hyper matte and soft matte textures), six "Dimensions" eyeshadow quads (each inspired by a classic Prada print), a lip balm, 33 AI-driven "Reveal" foundation shades, three "Augmented Skin" skincare products, and an edit of ten brushes and tools, is a creative collision of Miuccia Prada's signature vibrant colour palette and tech-driven textures; a true reflection.

Global Creative Make-Up Artist for Prada Beauty Lynsey Alexander told ELLE UK that her task was to “bring to life the Prada archive of prints and patterns, colour and vibrancy, and try to encapsulate it in a beauty product.” “Editing that wardrobe of colour and making the lipstick shades really Prada, really relevant, really beautiful, and really wearable” was one of the hardest challenges.

In addition to working with Alexander, the brand is also collaborating with internationally renowned digital artist Ines Alpha, who merges the physical and digital worlds to create a new future for the beauty industry. My work is all about pigments, whereas Ines’s is all about pixels, so I worked on developing the line with her, says Alexander. “She would go off and create the colour digitally, and I would create them physically. Then we’d compare and steal ideas from one another.” It gave the procedure an entirely new level of ingenuity.

The fashion house may be following in the footsteps of some of its Milan fashion week competitors, but Prada’s beauty line stands out from the competition thanks to high performance formulae, an avant-garde style, and a dedication to user-first functionality.

Mrs. Prada is all about both design and function, so the eyeshadows had to be palettes rather than singles, according to Alexander. The harmony of the four tones is created by the arrangement of three complementary neutral shades and one bold splash of colour. I wanted them to be useful in everyday life as much as on the runway.
