The celebrated French baker and pastry chef Gontran Cherrier, renowned for his fresh, crispy baguettes and soft, flaky croissants, has brought his culinary expertise to Marrakech. Located at the entrance of M Avenue, this bakery/restaurant spans 550 square meters and offers a delightful terrace, a bakery/pastry shop, and a restaurant, all under one roof.
Gontran Cherrier comes from a family of passionate and respected bakers. Growing up in this gourmet environment, he honed his skills alongside some of the finest in the industry. Today, his passion is shared across 12 countries, with over 65 stores worldwide. In addition to his bakery empire, Gontran is the author of several cookbooks and has been a familiar face on television, notably on shows like La Meilleure Boulangerie de France.
At the heart of Gontran Cherrier Marrakech, a team of top bakers kneads and prepares dough with the utmost respect for French tradition. They offer a complete range of artisanal viennoiseries, breads, pastries, biscuits, and catering options. Among the delights are the classic croissant and its creative variations like sesame and honey or meringue-topped versions, along with a selection of flavored scones, pain au chocolat, brioches, the buttery Breton specialty Kouign-amann, éclairs in chocolate and vanilla, strawberry and raspberry pistachio tarts, and the signature Yuzu lemon tart.
For drinks, the bakery offers the famous Tchaba tea, locally roasted coffee, a decadent hot chocolate Affogato, and refreshing seasonal smoothies and mocktails.
The restaurant side of Gontran Cherrier Marrakech is inspired by the French bistro style, offering a menu that includes a full breakfast selection, appetizers, soups, pasta, meat, and fish dishes, all available for lunch, brunch, and dinner from 8 AM to 11 PM. Among the savory dishes, you’ll find classics like the fish blanquette. For a lighter meal, try the cold tomato soup with lemon or the Caesar salad, while those with a hearty appetite will love the signature burger with its smoked paprika bun and parmesan cream.
On our visit, we sampled the burrata salad, a Caesar salad, the croissant burger specialty, and the crispy chicken bagel. Each dish was a delightful fusion of flavors, showcasing the high-quality ingredients and meticulous preparation that Gontran Cherrier is known for. The blend of traditional French techniques with innovative twists makes this spot in Marrakech a must-visit for food lovers and those seeking a taste of authentic French cuisine.
