Empowering the Future of Fashion : The Inaugural Success of M’OTION NextGen
Following the resounding success of the M’OTION showcases at M Avenue, the first edition of the M’OTION NextGen competition took place on April 17th in Marrakech, marking a decisive turning point in the promotion of emerging talents in Moroccan fashion.
Organized by M Avenue and under the Artistic Direction of Amir Rouani, the M’OTION NextGen competition brilliantly launched its first edition under the theme “Fashion: What’s Next in Morocco?” with the renowned Jacket Designer Jeff Hamilton as a guest and president of the Jury. This competition serves as an essential platform for the creators of tomorrow, offering them a prestigious stage to showcase their works to both the general public and industry professionals.
Discovering and Supporting New Talents under the Eyes of Renowned Experts
For this inaugural edition, the jury president was Jeff Hamilton, a legendary figure in fashion known for his iconic collaborations with stars such as Madonna, the Rolling Stones, and NBA sports figures. He brings a unique perspective forged by his experience in creating iconic jackets since 1986.
M’OTION, as an international platform for Moroccan design, offers the opportunity for the new generation of Moroccan designers to join this platform through this competition. The initiative aims to support new talents who have not yet had the opportunity to make themselves known. Ten promising candidates, selected from a wide range of emerging artists, were evaluated by a jury composed of renowned experts. The winners of the competition, the sisters Salma and Zineb Berrada for their brand THROB, will have the honor of presenting their collection at a fashion show and will benefit from an exceptional showcase at M’OTION, at the heart of M Avenue, confirming the platform’s commitment to being a springboard for new talents.
Educating to Innovate
A masterclass led by Jeff Hamilton with the participation of David Serrero and Mani Nordine complemented the event, offering participants valuable advice for navigating the competitive world of fashion. This educational session allowed aspiring creators to receive insights directly from the hands of an industry master.
The event not only highlighted the limitless possibilities for emerging talents but also solidified Marrakech’s reputation as a central hub for avant-garde fashion in Morocco. The first edition of the M’OTION NextGen competition has definitely paved the way for future editions, each promising to bring even more innovation and creativity.
