Hicham Lahlou Joins the Jury of the SaloneSatellite Award 2025 in Milan:

This April in Milan, the global design stage welcomes a celebrated Moroccan voice. Hicham Lahlou, internationally acclaimed designer and visionary, has been invited to join the jury of the prestigious SaloneSatellite Award 2025—affirming his growing influence in the global design ecosystem.

Held within the iconic Salone del Mobile from April 8 to 13, the SaloneSatellite Award is considered one of the most coveted recognitions for emerging designers under 35. Founded in 1998 by Marva Griffin, this platform has become a global incubator of creative talent—shaping the future of design through innovation, sustainability, and craftsmanship.

Since 2010, the award has served as a springboard for young creators, many of whom have gone on to collaborate with top-tier design houses and manufacturers. The 2025 edition will be chaired by Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator of Architecture and Design at MoMA New York, and will feature a panel of renowned figures including Michael Anastassiades, Samuel Ross, Giulia Foscari, and now, Hicham Lahlou.

Lahlou’s appointment is more than symbolic. As the founder of the Africa Design Organization and a tireless advocate for African craftsmanship and contemporary expression, his presence brings a powerful perspective to the international dialogue on design. With three decades of experience bridging tradition and modernity, Lahlou’s influence continues to elevate the standing of African design on the world stage.

Beyond his jury role, Lahlou will showcase two standout works at the Salone del Mobile: “Emerald,” recently featured at the Biennale of Contemporary African Art, and “Clover Spring,” a new piece crafted in collaboration with master artisans from Fez. Both works will be exhibited as part of the “New Craftmanship: A New World” showcase, alongside creations by Moroccan rug brand CasaAmar.
