Inauguration of Tassa Ouirgane School: A Triumph of Youth and Solidarity
June 11, 2024 is the day of the remarkable 265-day endeavor that young people between the ages of 15 and 17 led. Tassa Ouirgane School, the first to reopen its doors after the tragic earthquake that devastated the Al Haouz area, was opened with a grand event on this significant occasion.
What seemed to be an impossible feat was made achievable owing to the devotion and passion of a group of high school students and the Rotary Clubs Casablanca Anfa and Oasis. On a location largely damaged by the earthquake, these young people worked with the government to build a 1,040 square meter facility that was four times bigger than the original. The new school consists of three primary classrooms, a nursery, two teacher accommodations, and a playground. They have given not just a classroom for around a hundred students, but also a sophisticated setting suitable to their growth that meets all national criteria.
Representatives from the ministry, regional authorities, local dignitaries, partners, sponsors, and Rotary District 9010’s governor all attended the inauguration. This Tuesday, June 11, is the culmination of months of hard effort by the youngsters of Interact Massignon. Their passion and tenacity enabled them to conquer all barriers, despite the difficulties provided by their early age.
This accomplishment would not have been possible without the consistent generosity and support of many national and international funders and partners, spanning Japan, Canada, Singapore, and the United States. Nearly 2,400,000 MAD was collected via many philanthropic activities that showcased the young association’s exceptional mobilization. This fundraising initiative, mostly backed by Moroccan partners, represents a country coming together in the face of calamity.
In a national solidarity movement led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the young members of the organization, having prepared a solid and well-structured project proposal, won the confidence of numerous famous national sponsors, who provided substantial cash. These young volunteers gave their time and energy, working diligently to make their dream a reality. This school represents months of hard labor by and for Moroccan youngsters. For about a year, they focused much of their time and energy on designing, implementing, and organizing a high-impact humanitarian initiative that required tough and consistent effort as well as tremendous maturity.
Their determination, paired with the workers’ professionalism, drove this turnaround. Every hammer strike and gesture was motivated by the desire to provide a better future for Ouirgane’s children. The opening of this school provides Ouirgane’s children with a close educational institution where they may study, develop, and prosper.
This initiative symbolizes the ultimate purpose of the youngsters of the Interact Massignon club: to do all in their power to put smiles on children’s faces and to provide them with a future full of hope and chances.
