The Marrakech International Film Festival Unveils the Jury for Its 21st Edition!
Scheduled to run from November 29 to December 7, 2024, the Marrakech International Film Festival returns with a prestigious jury, including renowned filmmakers, actors, and industry professionals from nine different countries across five continents. This year’s jury will be presided over by Italian director Luca Guadagnino, celebrated for acclaimed films like Call Me by Your Name and Suspiria.
A Star-Studded International Jury
The jury includes Argentine filmmaker Santiago Mitre, known for his politically charged narratives and award-winning films such as Argentina, 1985; Danish-Iranian director Ali Abbasi, whose latest film, The Apprentice, was an official selection at Cannes; and Australian actor Jacob Elordi, known for his roles in Euphoria and Priscilla.
Representing Morocco is actress Nadia Kounda, celebrated for her roles in Moroccan cinema, including the award-winning Volubilis. Joining her is acclaimed actress Virginie Efira from Belgium, whose recent works, including Revoir Paris, have garnered significant awards, including a César.
The jury also includes American-British actor Andrew Garfield, recognized for his versatility in both blockbuster films like Spider-Man and award-winning dramas like Tick, Tick… Boom!; Indian filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, celebrated for her storytelling and recent adaptation of The Archies; and American actress Patricia Arquette, known for her Oscar-winning role in Boyhood and her advocacy for women’s rights.
These nine prominent figures will evaluate 14 feature films by emerging filmmakers from around the world, with the goal of awarding the festival’s prestigious Étoile d’Or.
The 21st edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival promises a rich celebration of cinema and a platform for new cinematic voices.
